FAQs – WHY KERBY™ WORKS

FAQs

KERBY™ FAQS: THE REAL QUESTIONS HOMEOWNERS ASK

From council concerns through to driveway damage, installation methods, drainage, and vehicle compatibility — here are the most common questions people ask before installing KERBY™.

01

Is KERBY™ approved by the Selwyn District Council?

KERBY™ has been designed specifically around Selwyn’s semi-mountable kerb systems and is widely used as a practical driveway access solution throughout the district. We got "The Blessing" back in 2020, just before COVID.

02

Will KERBY™ damage the kerb or driveway?

No. KERBY™ is professionally installed using engineered fixing methods designed to work with the existing kerb structure while improving vehicle transition.

03

Does KERBY™ block drainage or water flow?

No. The open-profile design allows water and debris to continue flowing naturally through the system.

04

Why not just use rubber or plastic ramps?

Rubber and plastic ramps often move, crack, trap water, deteriorate in UV conditions, or become dislodged over time. KERBY™ is designed as a stronger, longer-term solution.

05

Will this stop my car scraping?

In most cases, yes. KERBY™ is specifically designed to reduce harsh driveway transitions and improve approach angles for smoother vehicle access.

06

Can KERBY™ work on curved driveways?

Yes. KERBY™ installations can be adapted for straight, curved, convex, and concave driveway entries.

07

What vehicles is KERBY™ suitable for?

KERBY™ is suitable for most residential vehicles including low-clearance cars, SUVs, utes, trailers, and everyday family vehicles.

08

Is KERBY™ permanently fixed in place?

Yes. Official KERBY™ systems are professionally anchored using heavy-duty fixing systems designed for long-term stability.

09

Can KERBY™ be powder-coated?

Yes. Selected installations can be finished in powder-coated colours such as Grey Friars or Matte Black for a more architectural appearance.

SPECIFICATIONS

KERBY™ TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: TECH-SPECS

Built around real-world driveway performance, long-term durability, and professional installation standards for New Zealand conditions.

01

Heavy-Duty T6 Aluminium Construction

Engineered for strength, durability, and long-term structural performance without unnecessary bulk.Engineered for strength, durability, and long-term structural performance without unnecessary bulk.

02

Drainage-Friendly Design

Council-conscious open-profile design allows water to flow naturally through the system, helping prevent pooling while maintaining effective kerb and channel drainage. Leaves, silt, and debris can also wash through rather than building up and turning the channel into a garden.

03

Fully Anchored Installation

Professionally secured using high-strength 316 stainless steel fixing systems at less than 1m spacings, designed for stability and long-term hold, even on undulating, irregular concrete surfaces.

04

316 Stainless Steel Hardware

Premium 316 stainless steel fixings selected for long-term durability in harsh outdoor and coastal New Zealand environments. Unlike many mixed-metal combinations, these fixings are compatible with the KERBY™ aluminium system, helping minimise the risk of galvanic corrosion (electrolysis) and ensuring a longer-lasting installation.

05

Chamfered & Polished Edges

Finished for improved safety, smoother transitions, and a cleaner professional appearance.
